During a relentless winter two cousins found their pup Joey refusing to walk outside, which in New York City, is a bit of a problem. The freezing, salted sidewalks made Joey lift his paws up and moan in pain. Not finding a product that kept his little paws warm and dry, they decided to take matters into their own hands. With a design degree from The Savannah College of Art and Design, Christy created the first Joey Boot design. Tess, being a Broadway actress and graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, used her connections to a backstage sewing machine and the first prototype was stitched making Joey an overnight model sensation. Both sharing a love for dogs, fashion, and business they decided to create a partnership keeping the family entrepreneurial spirit alive.
